The Midwest’s premiere Grazing learning and networking event.

 Saturday August 2, 2025

Friends and Food

The GrassWorks Summer Picnic is an outstanding opportunity for members and non members alike to come together, share a meal, and learn more about grazing while on a farm and enjoying the great outdoors! Visit with old friends and make new ones during the pasture walk or over lunch and spend the afternoon learning and socializing.

2025 Host Farm

The 2025 GrassWorks Summer Picnic is being hosted by Aaron and Erin Pape from Pape Family Pastures in Peshtigo, WI. The Pape’s raise grass-fed beef, pastured pork and chicken, and direct market meats to their community. The Pape’s “take great pride in producing the healthiest, most delicious meats for your family and healing the land while we do it. Our animals are raised on green grass and regeneratively grazed to improve the health of our soils and waters. “

Make it a Weekend!

During the summer picnic, attendees will spend some time walking the pastures at Pape Family Pastures learning about the grazing systems used on the farm and listen to some top notch speakers in the afternoon. But there will also be plenty of time for fun, games, and networking! Bring along your favorite tailgate or lawn games to share with others while enjoying an ice cream social in the afternoon.

Is Peshtigo a bit of a drive? We know how busy farmers are this time of year, so if you’re in need of a recharge, why not make the picnic the perfect opportunity for an overnight or weekend getaway! Pape Family Pastures is only 15 minutes from the shores of Lake Michigan, with tons of state parks, campsites and cottages throughout the area. Or, check out Hipcamp for local farmstays, including Rachel Bouressa’s farm in New London!
