DESCRIPTION:Agrivoltaics research abroadMedia Contact: Sabrina Florentino\, Alternative Livestock Systems Educator\, slpflore@umn.edu\,612-626-9217MINNESOTA. (9/18/2026) Worldwide\, agrivoltaic systems are investigated for theirsustainability in offering energy and agriculture production from the same land footprint.Varying climates\, agriculture markets and energy demand create unique contexts for agrivoltaicsystems and their success. The University of Minnesota Extension will host a webinar exploring agrivoltaic systems fromtwo different hemispheres to detail these varying circumstances on October 2nd\, 12pm CT.The session features research experts from Brazil and France:Tropical Agrivoltaics & Dairy Cattle: Dr. Matheus Deniz and Dr. Karolini Tenffen De-Sousawill present their research on integrating solar systems with dairy cattle under Brazil’s tropicalconditions. They will share the effects of different agrivoltaic configurations on the thermalenvironment and animal behavior. In addition\, they will describe public perceptions and opinionsregarding agrivoltaics and its application in livestock systems in Brazil.Crop Tradeoffs & Solar Yields: Dr. Christian Dupraz will share key insights from hisextensive studies on balancing crop cultivation and solar energy production in France. Dupraz isa key leader and pioneer in agrivoltaics research\, being the first to study and publish data on theland use efficiency of these systems.Lessons learned from these global systems can be applied to various U.S. locations andagriculture industries. This free webinar is designed for farmers\, solar developers\, landowners\, government officials\,academics and agricultural professionals interested in dual-use land management. Whether youare a farmer looking to diversify income or a developer aiming to integrate agriculturalproduction\, this session will offer practical\, evidence-based insights.Pre-registration is required to access the zoom link.
