SUMMARY:Pasture Poultry and Bird Flu: How to avoid it and what to expect if you get it
DESCRIPTION:Hosted by Food Animal Concerns Trust (FACT) \n\n\n\nBird flu is a threat for everyone who raises poultry. While previous outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) had a much greater impact on large poultry producers\, the current outbreak is hitting just as many small flocks as large ones. This webinar will provide information on steps pasture-based poultry producers can take to avoid becoming infected. We will hear from Dr. Tyler McAlpin from USDA who will share important resources and information. We will also be joined by Marty Thomas discussing what happens when your flock does become infected based on his experience at his own farm. Don’t be left in the dark on Bird Flu and know your rights if your birds do become infected. \n\n\n\nPresenters: Steve Roach (FACT)\, Madeleine Kleven (FACT)\, Marty Thomas (Kakadoodle Farm)\, Dr Tyler McAlpin (USDA) \n\n\n\nRegister

SUMMARY:The Experiences of 38 years of Managed Grazing and Hopes for the Future
DESCRIPTION:Join us on Wednesday in-person or virtually at 3PM to hear from Rick Adamski of Full Circle Farm. \n\n\n\nRick Adamski has utilized managed grazing as the foundation of his family’s 240 acre farm in Shawano County since 1987. The farm was bought by his grandparents around 1900. Rick is married to Valerie Dantoin and they have two children; Andrew and Genevieve. Dairy was the main focus of the farm from its inception until 2014 when it was converted to grass-fed beef. The farm was certified Organic in 2003 and has been since. In 2017 the farm diversified when Andrew and his partner Heather Toman returned with their masters degrees from Northern Michigan to grow fresh vegetables and some hogs and chickens. All production is sold directly to customers through direct sales. Cooperatives are also a common thread throughout the history of the farm when Grandpa Stanley started a cheese factory cooperative to the SLO Farmers Cooperative started by Valerie and managed by Heather to help themselves and others receive products directly  from our farm. \n\n\n\nRSVP encouraged\, but not required.
