Farm tour and introductions will start at 10:30 AM. Grazing Acres Farm spans over 300 acres of slightly rolling pastures and hay fields and is home to Cheyenne and Katy Christianson’s 80 head of Holstein cows. Topics will include:● Fall Annual Forages: See pastures of oats and a mix of other legumes and cover crop foragesfor fall grazing that are compatible with forage only milk production and yield.● Winter Forage: Balage is fed throughout winter months to all cows and youngstock. An in-linebale wrapper is used to get high quality grass based fermented forage. Baler/chopper is used.● Milk Harvested with Flat Barn Milking Parlor: Eight stall\, dry flat floor system is used.● Replacement Heifer Management: Learn about noval approach for rearing replacement heifers.Calves stay with their mothers in milking group for 2-4 weeks\, then are transfered to a nurse cowpen for another 3-4 months. Calves get no starter grain and grow well on a forage-only diet.● Winter Housing: Two large cover-all hoop buildings provide manure pack resting area and bunkfeeding with large feeder wagons.● Emphasis on Soil Health: Livestock manure and organic soil amendments used stategically.● Family Labor: Farm work force is primarily provided by family members with 5 of 11 children stillliving at home. \n\n\n\nFor more information\, contact:● Cheyenne or Katy: 715-458-2835● Nicole Muschinske\, GrassWorks: 314-917-9352● Lynn Johnson\, NW Graziers Network: 715-225-9882

Through presentations\, case studies\, and hands-on exercises\, participants will learn how to: \n\n\n\n• Analyze the profitability of individual enterprises within their farm \n\n\n\n• Evaluate costs and returns to better understand what drives financial success \n\n\n\n• Develop budgets that guide day-to-day decisions and long-term planning \n\n\n\n• Identify bottlenecks or weak links that limit profitability \n\n\n\n• Weigh major decisions such as expansions\, new enterprises\, or capital purchases based on clear financial analysis \n\n\n\n• Explore strategies that balance economic viability with environmental stewardship \n\n\n\nThe course emphasizes practical\, farmer-focused tools that can be applied immediately to any operation\, regardless of size or type. Participants will leave with a framework for making confident business decisions and a clear plan for how to strengthen the financial foundation of their farm. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDetails and register here: https://shop.noble.org/products/noble-profitability-essentials-elkhorn-wi-october-20-21-2025

SUMMARY:Pasture Walk on Bale Grazing
DESCRIPTION:Jerry’s family has been farming for 120 years\, and he is a 3rd generation farmer on the land. Jerry adopted managed grazing in 2021 to improve soil health\, reduce inputs\, and boost productivity. He grazes Red Angus\, Hereford\, and Black Angus animals on 32 acres. We’ll explore how he utilizes bale grazing as both an outwintering strategy and a fertility program for his sandy soils. This is a free event! All are welcome (kids too)! Cookies and refreshments will be provided.
