SUMMARY:Cover Crops + Collars: Expanding Your Grazing Potential
DESCRIPTION:More forage. More flexibility. More grazing potential. How can you get more grazing days from your land—and make the work of managing livestock more manageable? Join Fields of Sinsinawa for an interactive field day exploring two tools for expanding grazing potential: cover crops and virtual fencing collars. We’ll look at how cover crops can extend the grazing season and provide additional forage\, and how virtual fencing can help expand the grazing footprint while reducing the time and labor required to move livestock. Come see these approaches in action\, ask questions\, and consider what might work on your own farm. \n\n\n\nThis event was originally planned for Thursday Oct. 15 but has been rescheduled for Tuesday October 20 due to rain. \n\n\n\nWe’ll meet at the shed at 2551 County Rd. Z\, Hazel Green\, WI\, then load up on people movers to go see the field. After the event\, we’ll come back to the shed for burgers\, brats\, and camaraderie. \n\n\n\nHere’s a short video of some of the cows at the Mound grazing on a foggy morning earlier this year: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/aSsF8GSCJDE

SUMMARY:Fishers & Farmers Workshops
DESCRIPTION:Where farmers and watershed leaders gather to learn\, share\, and define next steps forward–together. \n\n\n\nThe Nature Conservancy is partnering with the Fishers and Farmers Partnership to host their annual workshop December 1-3 in La Crosse\, Wisconsin. The goal of the workshop is to bring together landowners\, farmers\, and conservation professionals to share stories and lessons learned about how we can remove barriers and leverage opportunities to enable more in-field\, edge-of-field\, and crop and livestock diversity on the landscape. The workshop has been held annually for 7 years\, rotating between the five states in the Upper Mississippi River Watershed (Minnesota\, Iowa\, Wisconsin\, Illinois\, Missouri)\, and attracts between 50-65 participants each year. The Fishers and Farmers Partnership also offers an annual competitive grant program to implement partnerships and conservation practices on the landscape; the workshop is an excellent opportunity to network with grant recipients and administrators.
