SUMMARY:Pasture Walk Series @ Twin Creeks Cattle Co
DESCRIPTION:Throughout the summer\, this pasture walk series led by Paul and Tom Daigle will introduce UW-Stevens Point Natural Resources students to the principles of managed grazing and the ecosystem services provided by proper management of livestock on pastures. At each pasture walk\, cohorts of 35-40 students will learn principles of managed grazing and actively participate in pasture measurement\, sizing a paddock\, and calculating pasture forage availability. Tom and his wife Linda have owned this farm since 2010 and the land has been in the family for over 100 years. This year\, they have 20 cow-calf pairs\, 50 steers and heifers\, and 2 bulls. \n\n\n\nOPEN TO THE PUBLIC! While this pasture walk series is designed for natural resources students\, all events in the series are open to the public! These events are free of cost and no registration is required to attend!

SUMMARY:Pasture Tour: Great Heritage Farm in Winthrop\, MN
DESCRIPTION:Join Minnesota Women in Conservation for this exciting tour of a working multi-species grazing operation with experienced market producer Leah Matzke. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to deepen your practices\, this tour and learning circle will offer real-world knowledge\, encouragement\, and connection. We’ll tour the farm\, get to know each other through an interactive Learning Circle\, and share pizza from Corner Pizza. FREE! \n\n\n\nGreat Heritage Farm pastures hogs\, sheep\, goats\, chickens\, and family milk cows. The whole farm is treated as one organism. Each enterprise isn’t just doing its own thing; it’s feeding the next. The dairy cows nourish the family AND the soil – the milk feeds the pigs\, in addition to the people. The beef cattle are waking up soil biology\, stimulating plant growth\, and drawing in beneficial insects. The chickens scratch apart cow patties and handle insect control while keeping the family and friends in eggs. The sheep and goats clean up the brush and thistles the cattle leave behind. Nothing is wasted. Everything has a role and is stronger together.  \n\n\n\nThis farm also has a farm store and a Minnesota Department of Agriculture-licensed Mobile Food Trailer. \n\n\n\nDetails and RSVP here!
